Routines had to be the worst things in the world. Day in and day out, doing the same thing and knowing exactly what to expect; having every little detail already planned out with no chance of anything new and surprising coming up to make the day a little more interesting. Dick hated routines more than anything in the world for exactly those reasons.
That’s why he had his vigilante life; it could never become routine. Or, at least, he had hoped it couldn’t become a routine. Then he started to notice how every punk in Bludhaven seemed to be the same purse snatching coward and how every would-be rapist was just the same creep who was upset about not getting another date. But thankfully with his second job came the biggest perks; Slade.
The man was unpredictable and original, even if he lived the same way each day; Slade would have a new idea every time. That was one of the remarkable things about him. Walking into his apartment after another routine police force day of stopping the crook in the dollar discount ski-mask to find Slade on his bed made having a routine a little better.
As long as his routine was broken up every now and again by the unexpected plan that Slade had waiting for him, he wouldn’t mind living the same day over and over again. Besides, if he lived a routine life, then Slade would be able to find him every minute of every day.
