smallfandomflsh prompt Mistletoe. Yay for my first KKBB fic!~ Also, I'm sorry for the crap ending but honestly Harry just took over writing this and he didn't know how to end it and I'm getting ready for a party so whatever. Happy New Year!
Hard to believe this is my second Christmas with Perry already. I still think back to last year’s Christmas with, well, I wouldn’t call it a fond memory because a lot of crazy shit happened including my balls getting electrocuted and that’s so far from being a fond memory. It’s like the memory I usually try to never think about since it just makes me cringe and my balls kinda itch in a phantom ghost feeling kind of way.
And now I’m completely off topic and talking about my balls. Great, is anyone even still here reading this fic? Oh, you are? Cool, let me try and get it back on topic. So, Christmas with Perry the second time around was a lot better than the first one.
For one thing, I’m living with and working for Perry. Its great living and working with my best friend. Harmony is still around too, but not as much as she was beforehand since she’s seeing this new guy and seems to be pretty serious about spending all of her time with him. What, you thought she and I were going to be together forever or something? Yeah, I thought so too, at first, but it was plain to see that she just wasn’t meant to be with me.
We dated a bit at first, but, well, my balls were still recovering from the already mentioned experienced that I don’t like to think about so we weren’t able to ever do anything. I was okay with it since I was used to most of my relationships going a bit slow but apparently the few weeks it was going to take for me to recover was too slow for Harmony. She found someone who could actually take care of her needs and I was friend zoned once again, this time permanently.
It sucks that I am the only guy from our high school that probably loved her the most and still never got to do it with her. It’s, like, ironic or something like that.
So Harmony is spending Christmas with her new boy and Perry and I got invited to some shindig because it was either a party or sitting at home staring at each other. We went for the party option since we see enough of one other and when I say that I mean we see each other pretty much every hour of the day.
It’s weird because I totally thought Perry would have gotten sick of me long ago and tossed my ass back out onto the street. But we actually work really well together. Perry is all badass and gay and solving crimes while I’m, uh, well, I help him solve the crimes and I guess I kinda help him choose which cases to pick. He doesn’t do the cover ups for Dabney or anyone else so much anymore. He’s changed for the better and so have I. I haven’t stolen anything in months now. It feels good to not be a punk. Like I said, Perry and I work well together so both of our lives have gotten straightened out, except for Perry’s sex life because, you know, the gay thing so it’s not straight. Get it? That was supposed to be a joke but I guess it was a little too wordy for that. Whatever, I’m not a fucking comedian.
But I’m not saying that Perry and I are BFFs with obnoxious matching necklaces or rings or anything like that either. I pretty much get my life threatened daily, smacked around, and get called an idiot every other conversation. I would retaliate but Perry can actually back up any threat he makes and he’s my boss. Not to say I don’t get in a good jibes. I also accidentally ruin a lot of his things so I always feel guilty about that to just accept the fact that Perry is usually right when he calls me an idiot and says that I can’t have nice things.
Which leads me to this party that Perry and I are at on Christmas when I accidentally broke this drink thing. See, you thought I was just going off again but this was actually just a build up to the main story. You know, background information so that you’re not surprised that I broke this glass container. Perry called it a decanter or something. It’s used for wine usually and I’m not much of a wine drinker, okay?
I was trying to be a gentleman and pour some of the wine out of the oddly shaped wine pitcher/decanter without spilling any. But it was so oddly shaped, seriously, google the thing if you don’t know what I’m talking about. This one was kinda shaped like a swan neck that got twisted a little. So I grabbed the thing and was walking forward to pour a glass to this gorgeous blonde that I had been talking with when this guy who was built like a brick wall bumps into my shoulder. I stumbled backwards to try and save myself but, of course, my shoelaces are untied so I end up tripping over my own feet and falling to the ground hugging the decanter to my chest.
Let me just say, ow. Also, embarrassing since the entire went quiet and everyone was looking at me as I slowly push myself up to check and see how much damage was done. The white carpet was just as stained as my shirt with the red wine and probably some of my blood since I could feel the broken glass digging into my skin through the shirt.
Then I heard Perry’s familiar sigh. “Damn it, Harry, this is why you can’t have nice things.” He’s then gripping my shoulder and helping me stand.
“Sorry,” I mumbled to pretty much everyone and just kept staring at my stomach as a few glass pieces continue to stick into me. I kinda felt everyone then lose interest and go back to mingling since my accident wasn’t interesting enough to seriously damage me.
“Sorry, Daphne, I’ll send a check to have the carpet clean.” Perry quickly assured our host.
“Nonsense, Perry, I’m more concerned about Harry. Will he be alright?” She was a really sweet older lady that was probably close to sixty but of course didn’t look a day over thirty five due to all the plastic and stuff she’d bought to be put into her body.
“Yeah, this looks easy enough to patch up. I don’t even think I need to drag the idiot to a hospital.” Perry assured as he squeezed my shoulders. “Do you have a first aid kit or any Band-Aids? Also, can we use your bathroom?”
So Daphne got us settled into her private bathroom away from the other party goers with some washcloths, Band-Aids, and even some gauze that she had lying around. Then she went back to the party because she was the hostess.
I got my shirt off and Perry started to get the glass pieces out of my stomach before he started working on gently cleaning off the wine and blood because he knows I whine if he presses too hard. I’m sitting on the counter of the bathroom while Perry was patching me up so I kinda just let my head loll back and stared at the ceiling for a while, hissing in pain or discomfort every now and again.
I kept staring at the ceiling even when Perry clapped my knee that he was done. “Alright, your shirt is ruined and you embarrassed me enough so we’re just going to head home now. That sound good for you, Chief?” But I just kept staring until Perry finally looked up too. “What the hell are you staring at, numb nuts?”
“Isn’t that, uh, what is called? Mistletoe?” I asked, still staring at the little plant right above our heads.
“Good job, genius, I didn’t have to help you at all with that one.” Perry quipped. “Come on, we should go home and get some disinfectant on these cuts.”
“We have to kiss,” I finally looked at Perry to see that he was giving me a deadpanned look. “Right? That’s what mistletoes mean; that the two people standing under them have to kiss.”
“Is this going to be a tradition for us now? Every Christmas I have to patch you up and then kiss you so then you can complain about how wrong everything is in the world and blah, blah, blah.” Perry placed his hands in his pockets and shook his head. “Come on, Harry, let’s just go home and enjoy the rest of our Christmas. I bet we could find one of those stupid specials you’ve been watching all month.”
“That sounds good,” I smiled as I jumped off the counter. I don’t know what made me do it, but since I was already there I guess I just kinda leaned up and pressed a quick kiss to Perry’s mouth. “Thanks, Perry.” And then I left him in the bathroom as I re-buttoned my stained shirt, trying to seem all cool and collected even though my thoughts were just as confused as Perry’s were and my face was also beat red. But I had my back to him so I probably looked cool to Perry and that was what I was hoping for.
Neither of us said anything until we were in the car. It was Perry who said, “So, you’re bisexual or something now?”
“Or something,” I muttered.
“You certainly didn’t freak out as much as you did last year.” Perry pointed out.
“Kissing your best friend who happens to be gay and you’ve been living and working with for a year is a lot different than being manhandled in an alleyway by the scary gay man you’ve known for all of two days.” I argued as I stared out the window at the passing Christmas lights. It still felt weird to be somewhere without snow for Christmas. I guess I got used to having so much snow in New York.
“I guess you actually have a point, for once. So that was just a mistletoe kiss, right?” Perry asked. “I really would like for you to just tell me so I’m not over thinking any of this bullshit and then start wondering what it would be like to date you or something dumb like that.”
“I haven’t dated anyone since Harmony. You’ve only had a handful of people for one night stands since I moved in. We do everything together.” I shrugged. “The way I see it, we’ve practically been dating already except for the whole kissing and stuff. We can, you know, see where this leads us, if you want to, that is.”
Perry actually smiled at me before he turned his eyes back to the road. “Sounds good to me, Chief.”
“Awesome, then I suggest we put in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the better one, which means the cartoon version, and cuddle on the couch to end our Christmas right.” I stated as I smiled as well.
“After I get you patched up better and change into something more comfortable.” Perry paused for a moment. “Maybe even crack open something for us to drink from my private stash.”
“Deal,” I grinned. It was already a much better Christmas than last years.
