I finished my NaNo two nights ago! ^^ I'm proud of myself because it's actually original characters, the main characters are a hetero pairing, an actual plot, not a slash-a-paloza, contains no sex scenes, and actually finished around 50,000 words! It's like my first legitimate novel even though I've been participating in NaNoWriMo for about five years now.
Anyways, I've also been filling out prompts from DW's fic_Promptly community when I needed a break from NaNo. Here's the group of them.
Title: Tom Cruise Eat Your Heart Out
Author: Jordan Herbert
Pairing: None
Fandom: The Losers
Rating: Pg
Word Count: 412
Warning: Spoilers for the comic, character death mentioned
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters and that makes me sad sometimes until I realize I can still write using them. Yay!
Author's Note: Written for the prompt from fic_promptly over at dreamwidth; He thinks he's alone so he celebrates "Risky Business" style (as in the movie from the '80s with Tom Cruise).
“Jensen is on grocery duty so Roque is going to make sure Jensen doesn’t get off track and blow the money on a new gigadrive or something like last time, Cougar is going to make sure Roque doesn’t kill Jensen, and then I’m going to make sure that some decent food is actually bought, for once. You gonna be alright here on your own, Clay?” Clay folded the newspaper in his hands to stare at Pooch.
“I think I can handle myself for a few hours while you all go grocery shopping.” Clay deadpanned.
“No volatile women,” Roque called from the front of the house.
“No killing Jensen,” Clay ordered right back with a smirk. “Pick up some more coffee too.”
“Of course,” Pooch smirked as he grabbed the keys off of the table. “Enjoy your peace and quiet while you have it.”
Clay waited until he heard the car’s engine roar up and pull out of the driveway. Grinning, he tossed his paper onto the table.
_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
“—I’m telling you it was Cougar’s fault for pointing it out to me. Otherwise I never would have noticed and then nothing would have had to be burned and, is that Bob Seger?” Jensen paused in his ranting as he took in the music blaring in the house they were using as a hideout.
The four all stopped to listen to the music and then walked further into the house. They froze as they spotted Clay in only his boxers, socks, and a large undershirt, that was halfway unbuttoned, dancing on top of the couch as he sung into the remote.
“That’s just unfair,” Jensen protested, catching Clay’s attention and halting his performance. “Why do you get to be in your boxers when you’re alone but when I do it I get yelled at?”
“Man, I am just glad that all four of us saw this. There’s no way he can kill all of us and now there’s no way in hell we’re ever gonna let him live this down.” Pooch grinned as he heard Cougar chuckle.
“I thought you would be gone for a lot longer,” Clay accused as he killed the music with a scowl.
“Ended up being a quick trip,” Roque smirked. “So, Risky Business style, Clay?”
Clay smirked as he strode past his men. “It’s a classic.” He then slid down the hallway to his bedroom so he could find his pants to the delighted laughter of his men.
Title: Faithfully Lost
Author: Jordan Herbert
Pairing: None
Fandom: The Losers
Rating: Pg-13
Word Count: 100
Warning: Spoilers for the movie
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters and that makes me sad sometimes until I realize I can still write using them. Yay!
Author's Note: Written for the prompt from fic_promptly over at dreamwidth; The few things he has faith in.
Jensen isn't a man of faith despite his dog-tags having Christian engraved on it. He really doesn't believe in much that isn't scientifically proven.
But he does have faith in his team. He knows that Clay will always figure out how to get them out of the shitty mission they've been given. He knows that Roque will always be able to intimidate anyone and everyone except for Clay. He knows that Pooch will always be there to drive them to safety. He knows that Cougar always has his back.
After Bolivia, Jensen doesn't know what to have faith in anymore.
Title: Officially Awkward
Author: Jordan Herbert
Pairing: CougarJensen
Fandom: The Losers
Rating: Pg-13
Word Count: 244
Warning: Gay couple
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters and that makes me sad sometimes until I realize I can still write using them. Yay!
Author's Note: Written for the prompt from fic_promptly over at dreamwidth; First 'official' date.
Their 'official' first date was awkward, to say the least. They were so used to going out with one another and being around one another that they didn’t know how to make the date seem special and different than all the past times when they weren’t an ‘official’ couple yet.
Cougar had bought flowers which had made Jensen remind his friend with a frown that he wasn’t a girl and neither one of them was fourteen. Jensen had tried to buy movie tickets for both of them only to have his card denied because he had forgotten to put his last paycheck in the bank.
They had both grabbed the door at the same time to open it for one another which had left them both awkwardly holding open the door for an elderly woman and her grandson. Neither one of them knew what to do with their hands during the movie and had ended up with their hands to themselves the entire time.
When they came back from the movie, the others had expectantly asked how things went. They both had mumbled a reply and headed to their shared room. Somewhere between avoiding one another’s gaze and trying to get ready for bed, Jensen had groaned in frustration and pinned Cougar to the wall to kiss him silly. When they finally managed to break apart, the two had smiled and decided that dating was overrated anyways and they liked what they had better.
Title: Getting Used to it

Fandom: The Losers
Rating: Pg-13
Word Count: 275
Warning: Gay couple
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters and that makes me sad sometimes until I realize I can still write using them. Yay!
Author's Note: Written for the prompt from fic_promptly over at dreamwidth; In the past, Jensen got used to being alone and unwanted.
Everyone thinks its Jensen who follows Cougar around. Every time they manage to find Cougar cleaning his guns, Jensen is in the room too, typing away at his computer. But it's an unknown fact that Jensen is always there first and Cougar hunts him down to start his daily task.
In the past, Jensen got used to being alone and unwanted. It was how things were during his childhood, throughout his teenage years, and even at the beginning of his military career. He is loud and talkative which some people find to be obnoxious or just plain annoying. It had taken about twenty years but he finally figured out to stop seeking people out and to stop bothering them with his insistent noise if he wanted to make or keep any friends.
So he keeps to himself more and is surprised and confused when Cougar keeps seeking him out. He doesn't know what to do with the sniper always around except talk which he knows will eventually drive the sniper far away from him. Jensen is surprised that Cougar keeps coming back and actually seems to enjoy his unrelenting dialogue, even going as far enough to nod his agreement sometimes or smile at other parts of Jensen's stories.
Jensen is still unsure about being accepted and having company that actually likes him, not just tolerates him like his sister seems to do. Due to his curiosity, he finds himself asking Cougar why the man actively seeks him out. He receives a kiss as his answer and that is new to Jensen too but it makes him smile.
Slowly, Jensen gets used to being with Cougar.

Fandom: The Losers
Rating: Pg-13
Word Count: 106
Warning: Crack, gay pairings
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters and that makes me sad sometimes until I realize I can still write using them. Yay!
Author's Note: Written for the prompt from fic_promptly over at dreamwidth; You're just picking fights so I'll fuck you.
Jensen shook his head as he tried to tune out the loud argument occurring in the other room. “Okay, this has got to be the stupidest fight they have ever been in. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t even count as a real fight. It’s more like they forgot to stop yelling and just talk at a normal voice level.”
“YOU’RE JUST FIGHTING WITH ME SO I’LL FUCK YOU.”
“IS IT WORKING?”
“YOU BET IT IS.”
“AWESOME, TAKE YOUR PANTS OFF AND I’LL GET THE LUBE.”
Jensen twitched and reached for the brain bleach, namely Cougar, and quickly fled the room to be somewhere far, far away
