Author's Note: So I have honestly never written Toph since when I did write for ATLA it was back before season two. Still, I like the idea of Toph having a school-girl-ish crush on Sokka, because she totally did in the series.
She knew it was improper for a young woman of her age and class, but she did not care. She was in love with the saddler boy who came to her parents’ acres once a week with a repaired or new saddle. Even though he was of the working class, there was something about the way he talked to Toph that she knew meant that he was special. He treated her in a different way than everyone else did. He did not talk to her like a blind girl, or like a noble, but as though she was Toph; he talked to her, the real her.
Toph did not even like the ostrich-horses but she pretended to like them just to have the chance to be around the other on the days that he would arrive.
“Hello, Lady Toph,” his voice sounded as pleasant as ever.
“Oh, Sokka, I did not know that you would be here again on this day,” it was unbefitting for a lady to lie but she did it anyways. “I would not be a bother to you if I stayed, would I?”
“Of course not, my Lady,” she heard him place whatever tool he was using down. “I must say that’s an upmarket new dress you are fitting on this day.”
“Thank you kindly,” Toph curtsied slightly. “My mother assures me that it is stunning and the newest fashion statement in London.”
“Naturally it does look lovely on you, but I am so fond of you in your usual attire that I must admit I rather fancy you in your other clothes.” Sokka complimented as he took her hand and pressed a small kiss to the top in greeting.
Toph beamed and hoped that the blush she felt on her face was not too noticeable. “I feel the same. These corsets will be the deaths of the women of this time, I swear it. Will you assist me with this accursed thing? I am starting to have trouble breathing.”
“I just loosen these strings in the back, right?” Sokka questioned as he moved around behind her, touching her back lightly as he went about untying her. Toph released a sigh as she felt the corset become undone. “There, that looks much more comfortable. Would you like to go on a ride with me now, my Lady? I already have old Muki saddled with your parents’ latest purchase, just in hopes of you accompanying me for a ride.”
“I would not think of any other way that I would rather enjoy this day.” Toph spoke honestly as he took her hand and assisted her onto the ostrich-horse.
“Honestly, I feel the same.” Sokka squeezed her hand briefly before mounting the animal behind her. His arms came up around her waist to hold her securely. Normally, Toph hated when others felt like they needed to protect her, but Sokka was different. The first time she had scolded him, he had corrected her, claiming that he wanted to protect her, not that he felt the need to do it.
Toph believed that Sokka truly was different than the others. Since she supposed that she was far different too, she knew that they would be a great couple.

Date: 2011-03-19 12:27 pm (UTC)Awwww! So sweet! <3 I love how well it melds in with what they were in the series, but has a nice, new feel to it. ^_^ Those two are so adorable. And Toph was TOTALLY crushing on Sokka. And Zuko. And possibly Aang.
((But what in the world is the spoiler for the movie??? I missed it!))

Date: 2011-03-26 02:27 am (UTC)Totally! Toph was like a normal girl and was just crushing all the time. I feel like she had the biggest crush on Sokka for the longest time though.
((That's a typo because I just copied and pasted that from something else. >_> Honestly I don't even know what movie I would be referring to since I never saw the cursed Last Airbender movie.))
