One bathroom and five mutants seemed like a nightmare. There were lines and arguments and races to see who got to the bathroom first. But they had all slowly adapted to know each other’s schedule for showering.
Master Splinter showered when his sons left, when the house was normally quiet. He filled it with the noise of the beating water.
Leo showered before lunch, after he had finished his extra katas or meditation. He always allowed the warm water to cascade over his body as he looked up at the spray of water. He washed quickly and thoroughly.
Don would shower in the morning, after his first cup of coffee but before the second. He washed away dreams with cold water. His shell to the streaming water as it splashed over his neck.
Raph showered when he got back from wherever he was at night. He loved the feel of night but he couldn’t sleep without the hot water making his skin tingle. He bowed his head as the water poured over him, taking his sweet time until the water turned cold.
Mikey took the most showers out of the family. For as messy as his room was, his body was impeccably clean. He showered after morning training to get rid of the sheen of sweat clinging over his body.
Then he rode his skateboard and joined Leo in his shower before lunch so he could be clean enough to fix everyone’s sandwiches. He had to make sure his hands were extra clean after caressing Leo’s body so much. Besides, Leo liked to help Mikey clean those hard to reach spots.
He would bother Don and ‘accidentally’ get something to blow up in Don’s lab, covering them both with messy goo. It took a long time under the steamy water to finally get cleaned. It took longer still for them to get dry after.
At night he would wake up from a very pleasant dream and tell Raph that he was planning on taking a cold shower to help him out with a not-so-little problem. But Mikey was willing to compromise on a warm shower. Besides, Raph always had a better way to get rid of his problem. He loved to lend a hand.
Mikey liked shower time with his brothers, but he knew he could have better. So he casually brought up the idea of a bathtub, so Splinter could soak in warm water and help take the ache out of his old bones. It had been decided as a good idea and Don had quickly made plans.
After a particularly bad battle when the four turtles would come home splattered in blood, not necessarily their own, Mikey always suggested a nice bath to soothe their souls. It became a new routine for the four of them to gather in the large bathtub Don had designed and help assess the damage on one another. They wouldn’t leave until the wee hours of the morning and they all spent the night in the same bed afterwards.
Mikey liked baths the most. He wondered to himself if he would be pushing it to bring up the idea of a bubble bath. Don would probably agree if it was a particular scent that he enjoyed. Leo could be persuaded if candles were added along the side of the bath. Raph would comment that it was too girly but they would ignore him and he’d go along with it anyway.
When they returned one night, surprisingly none of them being injured, Mikey suggested a bath. He tried to hide his smile when his brothers agreed.
