Seriously, I'm so thrilled to see that I'm missed so much even though I haven't even been gone for a week yet. XD Actually, if you count how many times I've posted so far, it's like I'm not even gone but I appreciate all the love anyways. It's swelling my ego!~ Which I need since I feel horribly dumb every single morning when I stare at my host family and try to figure out what's going on. Also, this morning I unfortunately was served pinto, which is yesterday's rice and beans but for breakfast. I had heard other's talk about it and was hoping I wouldn't have to endure it but I knew not to hold my breath. It wasn't bad, per say, just not exactly my ideal breakfast. Oh, I also had the Spanish version of a Nutter Butter. They call it Yipy.
Luckily, my mama-tica is planning on making pancakes tomorrow. <3 I also learned that the word for honey is loosely translated to mean "made from the bees" since it's "miel de las abejas." My host family is impressed by how fast I am picking up on the Spanish words too. Seeing how I first arrived and couldn't even recall how to say "I'm tired, I want to sleep" and can now say "We're not going to the movies tonight, we're going to see them tomorrow. Tonight we are going dancing to celebrate my friend's birthday." But well, that's what happens when you hear Spanish 24/7 and are put through four hours of Spanish class in the morning. Which, by the way, I have been moved around to about four different classrooms so far. XD At first I was put at Basic 1, which was horribly easy, then moved to Intermediate 2, which made me want to cry, then down to Intermediate 1, which I can't understand everything and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed about since I believe I'm the dumbest in the class, so I'm switching to Basic 2. I might end up being the smartest in that class, but honestly with the pace these classes have been moving at, I will still be learning new things pretty much everyday. I will probably have some review in this class, but I feel like it's necessary.
I'm just worried if it'll count towards my Spanish minor or not when I get home. D: I hope so, since I know I'll still be learning so much and it is at my level, more or less, but my Spanish advisor is convinced that I'm better than that, even though I know I'm not. Sure, I've been studying Spanish for seven years, but I honestly didn't start learning or retaining anything until the last two. High school Spanish was a pure joke that I took just for the trip to Peru.
I also had to drop out of my Spanish taught elective because it made me want to slit the throats of everyone who spoke Spanish due to feeling so frustrated. I figured I shouldn't have such feelings since I'll be surrounded by Ticos (Costan Ricans) for a good month. So I'm taking an English taught History class of Relations in Latin America that I'm enjoying already. I also will probably have to argue for it to count towards my credits.

Honestly, I hate the Spanish language and I am terrible in it. I will always feel that way since it took me so long to just learn how to speak English due to my speech impediment. But I adore the culture and the history enough to put up with the struggles of learning the language. If I could, I would just minor in Latin American Culture, but that's not offered at my college so I'm settling with the minor in Spanish since it's close and, well, actually useful towards my major.
Also, I got tagged by
cheriestar for this meme!
