So I'm leaving for London now! I'm really excited to get to watch my brother wrestle in the Olympics, especially since he apparently has a great shot of winning gold. I'm so proud of him! For anyone who cares to watch it, look for Jake Herbert in the Freestyle wrestling at 84 kg.

Some days I just want to get in my car and drive so far away that even if I do look back I can only see open opportunity.

But then I remember that I have so much going good for me right now and I’m afraid to risk any of that because I’m not some heroine in a movie or a story with a guarantee that things will work out wherever I go.

So I remain in my boring, safe life wishing for an adventure and a chance at a better life that I’m too scared to take but keep whispering to myself about doing.

One day I’ll stop thinking about driving away either because I’m finally happy or I’m already in the car ready to go.

So I was planning on being productive for these last few days of break before I have to start Rowing and College back up on Monday. I was prepared to write/finish off at least two more fics. But then I started playing the Sims 3 for my Wii and, well, there went any productivity for the rest of this break. Seriously, such a pointless game and yet I am addicted to it. It probably doesn't help that the first four characters I made were Harry and Perry from Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang and then Jensen and Cougar from the Losers. I also made them married to their respective friend.

If anyone ever needs inspiration, I suggest buying the Sims. I have gotten so many brilliant ideas from watching these four interact. I love that the Sims are LGBT friendly because it means I get to watch my boys flirt, makeout, and even whoohoo (what they call sex in the game) with each other.

This is why I love the Sims )

Sudden road trip with Pigglehumsy to pick up her brother. Yay for eight hour car rides! It seriously wasn't that bad and it seems like I am doing a lot of traveling this winter. Also, I just wanted to try this app on my phone. :D

I’m sitting in the Pittsburgh airport getting ready to fly out to California for the second time in the same year, although this time isn’t Rowing related at all. I made a lot of great friends while in Costa Rica and we decided that we wanted our friendship to go beyond the Costa Rica trip. So here I am about to fly out to A’s place in California where R already is there waiting for me. I’m really excited for this. It promises to be a good start to my Winter break and goodness, I need this break!

To the people who celebrate it, Happy Thanksgiving! To everyone else, if you wish to, still enjoy this day and be thankful for what you have.

I am thankful for my family and my friends, even if we have never met.
I am thankful for my teammates and my coaches since they inspire me to be my best.
I am thankful for all that I have and all that I am able to do.
I am thankful to be home and to be able to go to my home away from home later today.
I am thankful for my memories and for being able to dream of a bright future.
If you are reading this, that means I'm thankful for you too.

Anyone have a Dreamwidth invite code thing they want to give me? I really do think I want one of those now.

Last night was so much fun, if not a bit hectic. Children's Museum, Disney on Ice, and Barry the Tico at the Gay Club )

So tired. But such an...interesting weekend. First off, this was without the help of AIFS, the company I am in Costa Rica through. This was just other members of the group and myself planning for the weekend. So I already had a bad feeling in my gut since it was nine people, all around the age of 21, planning for a weekend trip in a foreign country. Well, we wanted to go to Puerto Viejo (Old Port, it's a big surf-tourist site kind of town). The bus left at 6 a.m. on Saturday. We all planned to meet at the University at 4:50 so we can take taxis to the bus station about half an hour away and buy tickets. One person got left behind due to confusion. Turns out that all the seats on the bus except for one was sold-out. So 7 of us bought standing tickets, for a roughly 4 hour bus ride. Quite the start to our morning. We arrive and worry about our friend/wonder if he's alive and desperately try to find someplace with internet since Facebook is our only means of communication down here since none of us exchanged numbers/use our cellphones due to the expensiveness. He was alive and taking the bus at noon.

My weekend was so much fun yet again! I pretty much saw a bunch of animals, hung out on a beautiful beach, and then went bungee jumping. Yay!~ Oh, also got stung by a jellyfish but it's not as big of a deal as I thought it should be. It was like a bee sting kinda.

Also, I saw this meme floating around on a few of my LJ friend's pages and wanted to do it myself. Although I really don't like the whole 'answer one question a day' thing so I'm going to bunch it up into three questions a day since I'm a rebel like that.

We went to a live Jazz-cafe kind of place last night. It was awesome and I totally got my dance on. Now I'm on my way to my last class, which we are having our midterm in already, and then my group and I are hitting the beach! I'm so excited to just sleep and relax this weekend!

Back from my awesome weekend!~ So we went to this really cool active volcano on Friday called the Arenal Volcano. I got some sweet pics of it because the clouds and scenery were just so cool. We arrived and went to our hotel and then to these hot springs nearby. There were water slides into the hot springs and a cool wet bar and a bunch of other really sweet designs of the area. The water felt so nice too; like the perfect temperature.

Saw Transformers 3. It honestly wasn't that bad. Much better than the second one in the sense that I understood/cared about what was going on. The girl was stupid and not Megan Fox, yes, but honestly her purpose was to look hot and she did that pretty well. Rest of the movie was also good. I especially enjoyed it in my Lay-z-boy Chair with my feet up and being waited on because that's how movie theaters in Costa Rica roll. Also, I liked when Optimus showed up because I knew shit was going down.

Anyways, no one panic but I'm leaving for my trip to Monteverde Forest and I'm not packing my laptop for the weekend.

Chow!

Seriously, I'm so thrilled to see that I'm missed so much even though I haven't even been gone for a week yet. XD Actually, if you count how many times I've posted so far, it's like I'm not even gone but I appreciate all the love anyways. It's swelling my ego!~ Which I need since I feel horribly dumb every single morning when I stare at my host family and try to figure out what's going on. Also, this morning I unfortunately was served pinto, which is yesterday's rice and beans but for breakfast. I had heard other's talk about it and was hoping I wouldn't have to endure it but I knew not to hold my breath. It wasn't bad, per say, just not exactly my ideal breakfast. Oh, I also had the Spanish version of a Nutter Butter. They call it Yipy.

Let me just say I love that LJ auto-saves these things because I almost lost all of this and was about to become really pissed. XD

Okay, so I made it to Costa Rica safe and sound! My cell phone isn't getting service easily here though so I was unable to call my mom once I landed and she flipped out, almost resorting to calling some sort of emergency number. Whatever. I love my host family! The mother is amazing and really artistic. She had a towel on my bed and had it folded to look like a swan surrounded by little chocolates!~ She and her sister also run a bakery in the back of the house and she showed me an album full of different cakes they had designed, including a few Batman cakes I saw and instantly pointed out happily. :3 She doesn't know any English but her son does. Unfortunately, her son is leaving for the week for a volleyball tornament so I'm shit out of luck there. They also have a small, blind dog who wanders around the house and slowly runs into things to figure out where he is. It's sadly adorable. My host mom is very physical too. I've already been hugged and kissed three times by her and the rest of the family pretty much. I know it's the custom in LA but I'm just so unused to physical contact from 'family' members.

I just finished my oral test and I feel really good about it so I'll see what classes I am in later today. I've met a bunch of people from the AIFS program who are here alongside me and they all seem nice. I'm really excited for this trip even though I was freaking out last night since I couldn't understand much. A good night's sleep fixed that. Also, breakfast is served at 6:30 every morning so it looks like I'm back on my sleep schedule for Crew pretty much haha. Oh, and at breakfast my host mom said that she Facebook creeped on me and saw my pictures of me rowing. XD Actually she just said "deportes" and made rowing motions which I nodded and said "remar" to, so that's how our conversations actually go. I already know that I am going to be learning a lot of Spanish down here though, and a lot of other things too.

Did I mention I'm so excited for all of this?

I'm leaving tomorrow for my trip to Costa Rica! I'm so excited for this studying abroad experience. It's going to be so much fun and also a great experience. For those of you that have my phone number, please refrain from texting or calling me for all of July. Thank you! I'll try to post here as much as I can. It really depends on the internet connection.

Quick note just to say that if anyone visits my TMNT fanfiction webpage and catches my 5000 Kiriban, take a quick screen shot and tell me. I'll write you a drabble of your choice (within my writing abilities of course, meaning fandoms and pairings).

And I mean 5000 here, not here because I don't really use that as the homepage yet.

I always see a few of these things every year but I've never actually done it myself. I'm going to give it a go now because it really does just seem like a lot of fun.

Apparently, this was started about six years ago by someone named [livejournal.com profile] tartanshell. Her guidelines and my list are below.

Guidelines:

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

So, I finished NaNo.

...and then I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] springkink  for an awesome crack fic because I love me some crack and [livejournal.com profile] smallfandomfest  for two Hellboy prompts and maybe something else for fics. 8D Yeah, I'm on a writing frenzy right now. It's awesome.

Anyways, I'm going to try and update my website because, yeah, that's been WAY too long of an overdue.

Also, Happy Thanksgiving to all my USA buddies and happy last Thursday of November to everyone else!
