“Why did you even start in the first place? You’re not dumb; you know what those things can do to people. Just look at what it’s done to you. You have people in your life who love you. They still love you, we still love you, but you just keep making it so hard by pushing us all away. I know you’re not trying to but it seems like that’s all you’re doing; pushing us away.

“We just want to help you. We’ll try anything. We’ve tried so much already but we’ll keep trying. You just have to actually want our help this time. You’re going to have to try too. Please, just try for us.

“You’ve been given every great opportunity that I have. We grew up together. We went through different things, yes, but I’ve always tried to be there for you even if I never understood what you were going through. You could have such a great future still, you’re still young and there’s still so much time for you.

“Please, just don’t go back to the drugs anymore. Just turn to people, to us, instead. I just want you to stop hurting because it’s hurting me more.” Dick finished whispering to the sink. He splashed some of the water on his face, washing away the fact that his eyes were red from crying, possibly the best trick he’d ever learned, before turning off the steady stream of water.

“Alright, hit play.” Dick waved to the television as he settled on the couch next to Roy. They sat in silence while they watched.
